"World Health Organisation urges global action on reducing sugary soft drinks, due to their negative impact on obesity, diabetes and tooth decay. Choose organic, no added sugar, wherever possible. It’s great to see a healthy alternative which tastes delicious and without artificial sweeteners."
DR. JOHN TICKELL
I am pleased to be one of many health professionals now shining a spotlight on The World Health Organisation’s advice about the very concerning relationship between sugar sweetened beverages and our overweight society, especially in children.
Overweight and obese children are at higher risk of developing serious health problems including type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, asthma, and low self esteem.
According to the OECD report, Australia’s obesity is now in the top 6 countries in the world, with the USA leading. Real concern.
High Sugar Warning
The highest input of fluids, by a big margin, is sugar laden soft drinks. Our World Health Organisation (WHO) states that regular hydration is critical, “an essential element for all forms of life”, including optimal brain and body function, vitality, energy and wellness.
Many drinks are loaded with sugar, and ingredients from “conventional” farming with harmful herbicides and pesticides and toxic chemicals, which build up over time, destructive to humans and earth. WHO warns, “Highly hazardous pesticides have acute and/or chronic toxic effects.”
An educated decision is choosing drinks wisely - a choice between beverages which promote wellness, rather then cause illness. Choose drinks with no added sugar, not exposed to toxic, harmful pesticides and herbicides and free from artificial sweeteners, colours and flavours.
Organic drinks with no nasties are the choice of healthy, happy, long living people!
